How long have you lived in Dubai?
Why did you start the business when you did? What were you doing before?
I have worked in Finance For 5 years in a multinational company in Egypt, but When I moved to Dubai with my 5 month old baby girl, I decided to dedicate my time to her. However I couldn’t be just a stay at mum. The idea for craftastic first came from a friend that works with Egyptian artisans that try to keep traditional crafts alive. This inspired me to help the community with marketing their products here in Dubai, which is the hub of startups and small business.
The market atmosphere here is amazing for any idea to grow and find its way to the light.
So, I kept searching for a unique & authentic craft in Egypt that would need marketing and promoting and at the same time support their craft men on financial basis. Then I found this fantastic craft which I named my business with, “Craftastic”.
The craft is authentic hand loomed Egyptian Cotton Towels called “FOUTA” and is produced in Egypt i the same method since the Pharaohs (a time-honored tradition since the ancient civilization of Thebes), on wooden looms using the finest cotton in the world for those seeking a beautiful textured, vintage style with traditional detail.
